O projeto "Universidade Gratuita", em SC, é um engodo para injetar recursos públicos na rede privada por meio da concessão de bolsas. A universidade gratuita já existe há décadas no estado por meio de UFSC, UDESC, IFSC e IFC.

Um jornalista neoliberal no twitter defende esse projeto afirmando que nas universidades conveniadas não existe greve (ironizando a greve dos TAEs). Recebe em resposta um fato: UFSC é a 4ª melhor universidade federal do país, nenhuma privada de SC figura nesse ranking.

Voltando a esse assunto: a audácia desse conglomerado por instalar em vários pontos de Floripa outdoors enormes dizendo o seguinte: "Universidade Gratuita em Floripa é só uma: <UniPrivada>".

A dissociação da realidade é assustadora porque ignora as instituições que há décadas são universidades verdadeiramente gratuitas na cidade: UFSC, UDESC e IFSC.

American admiral and computer scientist, (designed COBOL) Grace Hopper was born #OTD in 1906.

She created the first compiler, the A-0 System, in 1952. She was also one of the first programmers on the Harvard Mark I computer. Hopper popularized the term "debugging" in computing after discovering an actual moth causing a malfunction in the Mark II computer.

E o Power BI está sendo cada vez mais utilizado na administração pública. Lá na CGU, por exemplo, o pessoal usa o Power BI para fazer vários painéis que são públicos. Tem um painel lá do Bolsa Família... O pessoal lá usa tanto o Power BI quanto o QlikView..."

O país que já teve até presidente visitando o FISL agora tem funcionários públicos que admitem que abraçaram o vendor lock-in mesmo e foda-se.

@diegopds @oigreslima A citação com que abro esse fio é de um servidor do Executivo, mas nem de longe foi a pessoa mais empolgada com software proprietário que ouvi nos últimos meses.

Esse estava só naturalizando o processo.

A mais empolgada foi de um servidor justamente do Judiciário. O cara não conseguia passar meia hora sem falar das imensas vantagens de colocar tudo na nuvem. Pelo que pude inferir, é um cara com algum cargo de gestão e estava mais do que satisfeito com o governo sendo mero consumidor de produtos de software.

Pro #quartacapa de livros que marcaram a minha infância, eu poderia citar vários da coleção Vaga-lume (e deles, eu me lembro que o primeiro que eu li foi "O Cachorrinho Samba"), que era um padrão adotado na escola estadual onde eu estudava.

Mas um livro que me deixou muito impressionado foi "Alice no País das Maravilhas" de Lewis Carroll. Eu estava na terceira ou quarta série (hoje quarto ou quinto ano) e a biblioteca da minha escola (pública, estadual) era relativamente bem servida de livros, mesmo sendo pequena. Eu estava de férias e fui até lá, pedindo uma indicação. A bibliotecária me passou esse e eu o devorei (detalhe, tinha que ler na biblioteca, não podia emprestar). Fiquei fascinado com a história.

The problem with a lot of ocean "exploitation" is that it's like mining a human for calcium. Yes, a human body contains ~1kg of calcium, and you could take it out, but it's already *doing* quite a lot of useful things, and the human has far more potential to help you if you leave the calcium alone.

Bluesky is a proprietary service operated by a single company, but with an unusually good "API" for plug-in 3rdparty tools.
